Experience a Japanese style "matsuri" festival in the Japanese garden. Cultural performances such as "Oiran Dochu" (parade of the courtesan), "Tezuma" magic, and live calligraphy painting; and activities such as "Daruma" decorating and "Yuzen" dyeing will be available.

All stage events last for 30-40 minutes.

"Oiran Dochu" (parade of the courtesan)

An elaborately dressed “Oiran” and her entourage will proceed through the Japanese garden.

"Daikagura" Jugglery

Daikagura is a form of Japanese entertainment that has traditionally been associated with various celebrations. Be fascinated with the performer's balancing techniques using a paper umbrella and other props.

"Tezuma" (Japanese Magic)

A style of magic performed in Japan since the 18^th century which is designated as an Intangible Cultural Property in our country.

Live Calligraphy Painting

A new style of cultural entertainment in which a Japanese calligraphy artist will paint a 3-meter-wide scroll in just 20 minutes.

"Kamishibai" (Picture-card Show)

A type of street entertainment that was popular during the mid-20th century.

Ninja Show

Dynamic action sequences will be performed on-stage. Afterwards, volunteers will be invited from the audience to try the choreographed sequences.

Koto Concert

Rejoice in spring exuberance with the festive sounds of the Koto harp.

"Yuzen" Dyeing

Dye a handkerchief in the methods of traditional "Yuzen" textile. You can take home the finished handkerchief as a souvenir.

"Daruma" Decorating

Daruma dolls are Japanese papier-mache figures that are regarded as a good luck charm. The different colors each have their meanings, such as red for general luck, black for protection from bad luck, green for good health, and so on.
